Google Chrome is working on a universal Play/Pause button on the browser’s toolbar which can let users pause media in any tab, without having to find the specific tab that is playing.
ZDNet reports that the feature named global Media Controls (GMC) is enabled on Chrome’s testing platform, Chrome Canary.The button is found to the correct of the url bar, wherever it shows a popup that slides down from the button itself, permitting users to prevent or resume currently playing media.
Testing shows the button works with audio and video content and across multiple Chrome windows. because it could be a universal button users will not have to be compelled to seek out that tab or window has media enjoying, so as to pause it.
However, this version is buggy and infrequently crashes the browser once users decide to pause a video.ZDNet says the GMC button is planned for Chrome’s desktop versions for Windows, Mac, and Linux. there’s no indication if it’ll be added to Chrome OS.
It adds that no estimate was given once the GMC button are going to be rolled out for normal users, however progress will tracked via the Chrome bug tracker.Tabs will still be muted by right-clicking on one, that then creates a drop down menu with an option to mute the site.
