GST Rates Finder App Launched

GST Rates Finder application has been launched by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to help confirm the rightness of GST charged on any purchase. “This mobile application help user to discover rates of GST for different goods and service. It can be downloaded on any smartphone and can work in ofline mode, once downloaded. The user can determine the GST rate for a product or a service by entering the name or section heading of the product or service,” the Finance Ministry said in an announcement on Saturday. The GST Rates Finder application, which is presently available on Android platform, will soon be available on iOS platform also.

GST Rates Finder application: How to download and use

To download the GST Rates Finder application, just goto Google Play Store on your smartphone or Android tablet, and search for GST Rates Finder.

Search results on the GST Rates Finder application will list every one of the goods and service containing the name which was written in the search box. The user can look down the list of description and when a particular item on the list is clicked, the show window will pop-up, containing points of interest, for example, GST rate, depiction of goods or service and the section heading of the Harmonized System of Nomenclature (HSN). For instance, any person who has been charged by a hotel or a restaurant or for footwear can cross check the accuracy of the rate of GST charged.

The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) has also given a GST rate finder on its gateway cbec-gst.gov.in to help the citizens to know the relevant GST rate on their supplies of goods and services.

A citizen can scan for applicable Central GST, State GST, Union Territory GST rate and Compensation Cess on a supply. The search can be made based on the description of goods or services or HSN part or segment or heading number.

“These activities are planned to fill in as a prepared reckoner on GST rates. This will engage the citizens as well as each resident of the country, to learn the right GST rate on goods and services,” the announcement said.
