Unlock the lock
As to keep secure the Google needs our explicit permissions to install apps from places other than the Play Store. It is the major reason why we need to enable the ‘Allow unknown sources’ setting on this TV.
For that, we need to head over to Settings > Security and select Allow on the option that says Unknown Sources.
INSTALL AND CHECK
After that, we need to insert the USB drive with the .apk file. Then, select the USB option from the TV Inputs option. This makes us to display the contents of the USB drive.
Now, we need to select the .apk file and then click –> install. After that ,the new app will be available for you to view on the home screen.
By this method, we can sideload all your favorite apps from a thumb drive.
GRANT THE KEYS
As we have mentioned earlier, we can also install a third-party app store on your Xiaomi Mi TV. Our app of choice, in this case, is Aptoide TV.
That this nifty app store which has all the right apps and easy-to-install feature.
All we need is we have to install this app as per the steps above. Once done,we have tap app that we’d like to install on your Mi TV from the Aptoide TV store.
This will prompt the Android system to throw you a notification. Click on Install and the app would be installed in absolutely no time.
The best thing is that all the installed app would appear under My Apps by default.
LOCK THE BACK DOOR
Having the sideloaded and made installed all the apps, just make sure that we have disabled the Unknown sources settings.
