Despite the fact that sending and receiving SMS messages with Android is easier than ever, the OS does not make it so simple to save these messages. If you would like to hold onto important information or conversations and especially if you are planning to reset your phone to factory settings, this might be bothersome for you. However, there is a way that you can go about saving your text messages.
Application for Saving SMS on Android
Android does not include a feature that allows you to automatically save and restore your SMS messages. If you wish to do so, you will need to download the application SMS Backup & Restore, which allows you to back up your text messages to your Gmail account or to an SD card. Doing so makes restoring your SMS messages easy.
How To Save SMS on Android
To begin the process of saving your SMS messages on Android, you will first need to download SMS Backup & Restore to your smartphone.
Next, open the application and tap Set up a backup to begin the creation of a new backup. At this point, you can choose what information you would like to save, which SMS messages you want to hold onto, and to where you would like to back them up. You can also save the emojis included in the text messages and name the backup files so that they will be easy to identify if ever you need to restore them.
When you are done, click Next > OK to confirm your new settings.
