WhatsApp may soon ban ‘frequently forwarded’ messages

After having worked on fighting the spread of fake news on social media, Facebook-owned messaging big WhatsApp is looking to form an addition by barring frequently forwarded messages in a group chat.

According to WaBetaInfo, the feature can only be available to group admins and can add a group chat. Previously, ‘frequently forwarded’ tag had started appearing for messages that were forwarded over four times.

With this move, the corporate aims to filter out spam and hoax messages. whereas there’s no stopping users from copying messages and making new ones to forward out of them however that will somehow build it a lot of tougher to do.

Reportedly, the corporate is additionally performing on an integrated reverse image search which can quickly and with efficiency verify images received.

The feature is still in beta testing and no official confirmation has been received of its rollout.
